A few tips to keep in mind when celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As we enter this glorious month of Breast Cancer Awareness, please be advised of the following:

  1. While it is much appreciated that survivors and those surviving cancer are acknowledged, this month be reminded that for us this is an everyday thing. Please do not wait until October to show support, lend a helping hand or check in on your cancer surviving friends.

  2. Surprisingly enough, not all businesses have a genuine interest in supporting BCA. Many use this as a ploy to take advantage of boosting revenue and financial gain. Please do your research. A lot of companies will state that a percentage of proceed will go towards breast cancer research or patients, yet very little actually make its way. Know where your funds are going, and how much will actually reach the hands of people in need before you assume you are truly giving support.

  3. Just because someone is out of treatment, that doesn't mean that they are without needing mental, emotional and financial support; there are tons of costs and services required for surviving post treatment. Consider helping people that are in both phases of their journey!

Sincerely,

Breast Cancer Survivor
